Impact of Snow Days on School Year

Historically snow days in the Olympia School District have been made up at the end of the school year, and that continues to be our plan at this point in time. Since the Governor declared the recent storm a State of Emergency, we are looking at the option that is available to us to waive up to three days of school, which would only leave us with the requirement to make up one day. We have not yet made a decision on which direction we plan to go and want to see how the rest of our winter plays out to see if we have any additional school closures because of the weather. As we evaluate our options for make-up days, we want to ensure our students continue to receive the high quality education and classroom support they deserve. In early spring we will be sure to communicate our plan for making up snow days.

2012 Bond & Levy Voter Information

OSD has both a bond and levy proposal on the upcoming February 14th ballot. The levy, which supports classroom programs and learning, is not a new tax but replaces the existing levy that expires at the end of 2012. The $97.8 million Capital Improvement Bond ensures OSD has adequate and safe facilities to serve students now and in the future. If both proposals pass, taxes will remain the same.
