Parent educator to speak at May 24 safety meeting

The Olympia School District will host a district-sponsored safety event for parents next Tuesday, May 24, at Washington Middle School.

Candyce Lund Bollinger, a local parent educator for 35 years, will present to parents about “How to talk with your child about sensitive topics.” Her presentation will include information about how parents can have a conversation with children about appropriate versus inappropriate touching, as well as tools to help empower children to deal with sensitive situations.

The free event is from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Washington Middle School cafeteria, 3100 Cain Road S.E. in Olympia. Child care will not be provided.

Bollinger has been a parent educator at South Puget Sound Community College for 35 years and has done private parenting services for 30 years. She has done numerous workshops over the years throughout Thurston and Mason counties, including workshops in Olympia, Tumwater and North Thurston school districts. She is the mother of four children and has two grandchildren.
