I grew up in Boulder, Colorado and moved to Washington to attend Western Washington University where I earned a BA in history. After graduation, I moved back to Colorado where I worked various odd jobs--office clerk, landscaper, carpenter, "janitor", and SAT tutor--and eventually enrolled at the University of Colorado to earn my professional teaching certification. In 2001, my family and I moved back to the beautiful Pacific Northwest. My first novel won an Independent Publisher Book Award. I earned my MFA (Master of Fine Arts) in Creative Writing from Rainier Writing Workshop at Pacific Lutheran University. I enjoy short stories, and I have been fortunate to have several stories published in literary magazines. I teach English and secondary social studies.
I was born in Montreal, Canada. I moved to the United States when I was seven years old (1976!) because my Dad's job was moved to the Seattle area. I attended many colleges and universities. I graduated from The Evergreen State College in 1992 with a BA in Liberal Arts (major emphasis in mathematics). I received a Master's degree from Evergreen in 1994 in Teaching. I have taught math at all levels, from 6th grade through Calculus and college level math. My favorite class to teach is Geometry. I am married with 3 children: Lillyanne, Garrett and Nathan. My husband is also a teacher. I have many pets: a dog, 2 cats, a rat, a mouse, a bearded dragon, and fish. My hobbies include: cooking, reading, being with my family, gardening, baking, eating, and working out. I LOVE CHOCOLATE!! My favorite TV show is Fringe.
