Is school canceled?

Inclement Weather is reported on our homepage.

As we approach the winter season, we want to clarify for you how school closure or school delay information applies to our academy. Because we are part of the Olympia School District, you will want to pay attention to the announcements that pertain to our district.

If the announcement is made that "Schools are Closed," this will also apply to ORLA and all classes will be canceled for the day. If the announcement is for a "One Hour Delay," or "Two Hour Delay," either situation means that for ORLA, all classes starting at 8:30 a.m. are canceled, but we will plan to run all classes that normally start at 9:30 a.m. and later. Because our teachers/specialists may have more serious road conditions near their homes, they may need to cancel their individual class(es).

When weather or other emergency conditions dictate the closure or delayed start of our schools, radio stations KGY (96.9 FM), KMAS (1030 AM), KXXO (MIXX) (96.1FM), and KAOS (89.3 FM) will broadcast information as soon as possible so that you will know to keep your child at home. Seattle television and some Seattle radio stations will be notified as well. On the Internet, access our District website, Olympia School District, or the Public Schools Emergency Communication System at http://www.psecs.wednet.edu.

Subscribe to Friends of OSD by sending your email to [email protected] to receive regular email updates as well as emergency and school closure notices from either site. Please ensure the Office has accurate telephone numbers so the notification calling system can reach you with the most updated information.

Your safety is of foremost importance, so if we are open but you do not feel safe to drive, please contact the ORLA Attendance line 24-7 at (360) 596-7773 to let us know you are not able to attend due to the road conditions.
