Attendance Matters:

ORLA Attendance Rates for the current year by program:
¬ h/iConnect attendance is down from 60.29% to 52.53%
¬ Montessori and MAST attendance is down from 78.7% to 71.42%
¬ District attendance is down from 82.07% to 80.49%
Is your student late to school? All students should check into the front office before going to class. Parents need to sign student into school with the front office staff. Students in elementary grades PK-6th grade must have a parent walk them into the building students in 7-12th grade parents can call the front office. Students will be marked unexcused if there is no parent communication.

Attendance Line: Please remember to call our 24/7 attendance line to let the office know if your student(s) will be out of school. Please remember to leave your name, student(s) name, date they are out and the reason. Thank you for your continued cooperation. ATTENDANCE LINE: 360-596-7773

Students should NOT come to school if they have a fever over 100 degrees, have diarrhea/vomiting, have a bad cold and/or cough, if they have eye redness and drainage, or have other communicable illnesses. Students must be symptom free without medication for 24 hours before returning to school.


Families invited to OSD Tech Info Evening:

The Olympia School District invites you to attend a technology informational evening with Jeff Utecht, a technology consultant. Utecht specializes in the impact of the digital world on our students, from tech devices, to social media and communication. Utecht started off the school year with a presentation to OSD teachers and now wants to bring his message to you as well. The presentation will be held in the Capital High School Auditorium on January 15 and will begin at 6 p.m. Students grades 6th-12th are encouraged to attend the event with their families.

Following the presentation there will be multiple follow up activities available with Jeff and OSD Technology staff: 
• Q&A with Jeff
• Viewing of the video Screenagers 1 (in preparation for viewing Screenagers 2 at a later date)
• Accessing and utilizing the Common Sense Media resources
• Accessing and utilizing the district provided SecURLy student web monitoring system

Help us cover our Family Photo Wall with what makes ORLA the best place ever...YOU!!! We will be attaching our family photos (staff and families) to the Love is the Answer wall by the family copy machine. Please add your photo!!

Inclement Weather Conditions-Please keep the following information readily available in case you need to check if school has been canceled or delayed due to weather or other emergency conditions.

Parents, please keep in mind that there is no student supervision when school starts late or is canceled. Web or media alerts will inform families if emergency/snow bus routes are being used. hConnect/MAST/iConnect:

2-hour late start time is 10:30 am
If we have a 2-hour late start in hConnect we will start at 10:30. If your student has a 9:30-11:25 class they will attend the class starting at 10:30. Students can arrive at 10:15am

Montessori late start time is 11:00 AM. Students can be dropped off after 10:30 AM.



hConnect & iConnect

Registration for 2nd semester is January 24th at 9:30. The schedule and registration information has been sent. IF you didn’t receive it please check your spam folder. Please make sure that you can log into Skyward. If you would like help with registration or need a computer, please come to the CRC between 9:15 and 10:45.

 

High School Diploma Track Registration

All high school students who are on diploma track need to meet with Laura Herman or Kristy Grinnell to get pre-registered for 2nd semester classes the weeks of January 13th and January 21-23. Call the front office to make an appointment.
9th Grade students meet with Laura Herman
10-12th Grade students meet with Kristy Grinnell

 

Empower Hours

Every Friday any student who needs help can come to Empower Hours and receive additional help in ELA/Social Studies and Math/Science. Empower Hour is canceled January 31st.


English/Social Studies:
10-11 - Ashenhurst in room 119
11-12 - Bingaman in room 120

 

Math/Science:
12:30-1:30 - Erickson in room 118
1:30-2:30 - Ong room 119



MAST & Montessori

MAST 2nd semester registration paper work will be sent home with students Tuesday, January 14th. Students in yearlong classes will remain in the class unless otherwise requested on the paperwork. Registration paperwork needs to be returned to the front office by January 27th. You can email this form to [email protected] or you can deliver it to the front office. Paperwork will be date/time stamped in the order it is received and that will determine how we register students for electives.
